AfricanMecca guests arrive and overnight in Johannesburg. Subject to arrival timing, optional add-on tours of the Apartheid Museum, Soweto Township and Johannesburg City Tour are available.
Thereafter, your program is combined with a visit to Cape Town - its many attractions have made Cape Town a famed world class destination for many global travelers and Hollywood movies sites alike. Guests can take a trip to the Cape Winelands and taste South Africa's homegrown wines; see the world from your vantage point on the top of the famed Table Mountain; dine like a king at any of the South Africa's fantastic restaurants and indulge in the great outdoors activities. You can visit the famed V&A Waterfront - a super spot for shopping and dining, and its attractions include the Two Oceans Aquarium, a craft market, an amphitheater where local artists perform and many more. Additionally, AfricanMecca guests can also take a helicopter tour of the three bays, harbor cruise or head out for Robben Island, where Nelson Mandela spent many years in imprisonment. JOHANNESBURG - ARRIVAL DAY
Upon flight arrival in South Africa at the O.R Tambo International Airport in Johannesburg, you are met on arrival by a guest relations officer. Transfer to Crown Plaza Rosebank in Johannesburg for your check in, relaxation and overnight. Johannesburg (City Of Gold) - Jozi, Jo'burg or Egoli to its friends - the city is a vibrant melting pot of humanity that ensures you won't walk alone when exploring the city's many cultural and leisure attractions. The area where Johannesburg stands was once grassland, but is now one of the biggest man-made forests in the world. KRUGER PRIVATE RESERVE (TIMBAVATI PRIVATE GAME RESERVE)
After breakfast, transfer to the airport for your outbound flight to the Kruger Airport. You are met on arrival and transferred to Motswari Lodge to experience 3 full days of game viewing. The lodge is located within its own private concession namely Motswari Private Game Reserve, part of the Timbavati-Kruger Reserve boasts of diverse species of terrestrial, aquatic and avi fauna including the Big Five: lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo and rhino. Kruger offers an ornithologist’s treat - birdlife is prolific with hundreds of species of the most beautiful avi-fauna the park has to offer. And don’t forget those experiences found beyond scrubs, bushes, branches and stones by embracing all sights including tracks, smells and sounds around you. After breakfast, transfer to your flight to Cape Town via Johannesburg. Upon arrival at the Cape Town International Airport, a transfer officer will personally meet all arriving guests and transfer you to Victoria & Alfred Hotel for your 3 nights Cape Town experience. Victoria & Alfred Hotel is perfectly situated in the heart of the Victoria & Alfred Waterfront and offers spectacular views of the working harbor and Table Mountain. With your stay at this hotel, you have the best access to all the facilities, restaurants and services at the waterfront. You meander back along the coast towards the city, visiting the historic naval port of Simon’s Town and the endearing penguin colony at Boulder’s Beach. The Fairest Cape of All, that was Sir Francis Drake’s opinion…and we’re sure you’ll echo it. On your Cape Town City tour, you will have the opportunity to visit Table Mountain and take the optional cable car ride (paid directly when operational in good weather). You will visit the country’s oldest building, The Castle (closed Sundays), and a short distance away, the Company Gardens, both historically fascinating and well conserved. Your drive continues past Parliament Buildings, City Hall and the Slave Lodge, and you’ll sense the depth of history via their distinctive architecture. Transfer to Kasane. On arrival, transfer to Chobe Game Lodge for your 3 nights stay. Chobe Game Lodge is located within Chobe National Park. The only permanent game lodge situated within the famous Chobe National Park, Chobe Game Lodge is Botswana's premier venue for guests looking for a perfect base to explore Chobe National Park and the Chobe River. Its extensive facilities include a swimming pool with adjacent terrace and a grassy riverside boma area where a Marimba band or traditional dancers can perform. Each of the rooms at the lodge is river facing and air conditioned, featuring overhead fans, complimentary mini bar, en-suite bathrooms and private terrace. After breakfast, you will fly to your Okavango Delta concession experience for 3 nights stay at Shinde Camp. Thecomprises of eight twin-bedded classic safari tents, each with en-suite bathrooms, hot and cold running water and flush toilet. Every possible comfort has been catered for – from mosquito nets, electric ceiling fans, generated electricity and a private viewing deck through to a decanter of sherry! Each strategically positioned tent offers splendid views, whether across the Okavango Delta’s mysterious waterways or open grasslands. Shinde is situated on a private concession which allows guided walks, Mokoro excursions and night drives in addition to game drives and motorboat trips. Shinde’s excellent location in the Okavango Delta ensures a combination of permanent water access for year-round water activities and large dry areas for game drive routes. This blend of environments provides the habitat for a consistently wide variety of wildlife, including the elusive sitatunga antelope. Fly or spin fishing is available throughout the year (with the exception of January and February), with excellent bream fishing from May to September and superb chances of landing Tiger fish during September to mid- November. Shinde is also a wonderful option for honeymooners. Guests are accommodated in the luxurious honeymoon tent and enjoy special touches which include private breakfasts. Honeymooners are also offered a slightly more relaxed pace than a normal safari routine!
